Notes

Antibody results should not be used alone for diagnosis and must be interpreted in light of clinical manifestations and other test results.
Jo-1 antibodies can be found as markers in polymyositis/dermatomyositis (prevalence approx. 25%), but also in patients with polymyositis overlap syndrome. They are associated with intestinal pneumonitis (in the context of myositis). Patients with Jo-1 antibodies have a severe form of the disease with a tendency to relapse and poorer prognosis.
