Antibody results should not be used alone for diagnosis and must be interpreted in light of clinical manifestations and other test results.
Centromere B antibodies are found in 70-90% of patients with CREST Syndrome, a limited form of scleroderma with a comparatively favorable prognosis. However, they may also occur in Raynaud’s phenomenon and primary biliary cirrhosis (10-20%).
